Sometimes Your Joy is the Source of Your Smile

“Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy” said Thich Nhat Hanh. And sometimes, says Edgar’s Mission, a brave young sheep named Ray Ray is the source of both.

Jumping into our hearts and lives on 21 July 2018 was Ray Ray – a wee lamb born without eyes and without hope of ever having a life truly worth living, until someone saw her for who she truly was. And that someone had the crazily ambitious idea of trekking almost halfway across the country to find sanctuary for Ray Ray – which is exactly what the kind-hearted Alex did, all the while guided by her heart and one inspirational animal.

Watching Ray Ray’s unbridled sense of adventure each day as she leaps into the unknown is indeed a source of both joy and smiles for us all. But it is so much more; it serves to remind us that the only handicaps we have in life are the ones which we impose upon ourselves, and it is through embracing life’s simple pleasures we can break free. Thank you Ray Ray and thank you Alex, for the kindness and joy, hope and smiles you bring to the lives of all you touch.
