  Volunteer Days

Dedicated Volunteer Days are the second Sunday and the fourth Saturday of each month

It is with much pleasure and somewhat tired and dirty hands that Edgar’s Mission cordially invites one and all to partake in their exciting new initiative (read work, the get down and dirty kind, although there are some inside duties as well) - dedicated volunteer days! Edgar Alan Pig, decreed the second Sunday and the fourth Saturday of each month Volunteers Day at Edgar’s Mission – farm sanctuary!

With over two hundred animals to tend to and sixty acres of land to care for there is much work to be done. There are heaps of fun, and not so fun things that need to be done around the farm and Pam, Edgar's Mission founder, sure could do with a hand.

And there are fun orders of merit to be had.  Why not go for an “I’ve been Wilbured” badge of honour, or “I manhandled the most manure in a day” seal of success and for the really adventurous daredevil there is the “I groomed Rusty and lived to tell the tale” badge.

Edgar’s Mission farm sanctuary is a not for profit incorporated group, whose sanctuary provides loving and lifelong care for rescued farm animals.  Their outreach centre aims to expand the public’s circle of compassion to include all animals.

Please no dogsCan I bring my dog when I come to visit?

This is probably one of the most daunting questions we are asked.   While we here at Edgar's Mission love ALL animals... including dogs (several rescued dogs live here) and we are sure we would love yours, but as you would imagine, our first priority is to the rescued animals in our care.  Some of our farm animal residents are very frightened of dogs they don't know. They have had traumatic experiences in the past and will not understand that your dear pup means them no harm.  It is very important to the rehabilitation of our rescued animals that they feel safe. Dogs, like us humans are naturally very excited when they come to visit but unlike us humans many are not able to contain their excitement.  This can lead to a distracted human trying to calm their dog and in doing so they may not experience all that Edgar’s Mission has to offer.

So we ask that in the best interests of all that you please leave your K9 family at home.

We thank you for your understanding.
