Priscilla -

I was initially a bit frightened of my new human friends when I first arrived but it did not take long for me to work out where the food comes from, us pigs are pretty smart you know. We are the smartest of all the farmed animals, we can work out how to open farm gates and given the chance we can even play computer games!

It didn‛t take me too long to work out that if I sat I would get a treat and before long I had my human friends so well trained that they would go and get me a treat each time I sat! Did you hear the story about the Princess and the Pea? Well I am a bit like the
Princess except I am a Queen and I do not like to sit down on stones or rough ground so my human friends have lovely mat for me to sit on.

Did you know that for many pigs they will never have a lovely mat, nor a warm bed or even a
wallow to splash about in? No, for them all they will have is cold barren concrete. It is
hard to imagine really, but it is true. The only chance these poor souls will get to see the
sunshine, smell fresh air or take more than a few steps is on the last day of their life as
they are trucked off to that horrible place from which no pig ever returns.

It is for this reason I have decided to become an ambassador for all the other unklucky
pigs who do not get to Edgar‛s Mission to find safety within. You see most pigs do not have
protection from acts of cruelty, their only hope that their lives can change for the better
rests with people like you who refuse to buy the products of their suffering. I hope that
once you get to know me and my farm buddies you will realise that us animals are for lovin‛
not the oven!

Do you want to be a Best Buddy to Priscilla?

“Whenever people say ‘We mustn’t be sentimental’ you can take it they are about to do something cruel. And if they add ‘we must be realistic’ they mean they are going to make money out of it”.
