Cooking with Kindness, a tasty launch

Among all the excitement of the Cooking with Kindness launch today, Elmo, Eddie, Rose and Red Baron had time to schmooze with their adoring fans. There was much anticipation over the arrival of the animal ambassadors, who stole the hearts of our wonderful guests, but oh the food—it tasted as good as it looked.

The morning went off without a hitch and we had a blast among friends, food and festivities. A selection of tasty treats taken directly from the pages of Cooking with Kindness were so kindly brought along by a host of brilliant chefs and we were lucky enough to devour every single one. Also joining us on the day were musician and host Lindsay McDougall and Dan Maio from the Getaway Plan.

The event was all made possible by the kindness and support of those who believe in what we do. A huge thank you to Jessica and the team at The Cruelty Free Shop for the great venue and helping make the morning seamless.

Thank you to all of contributors who took the time to join us and share their goodies. Here’s what was on the menu: pavlova from The Green Lion, red velvet cake from Von’s Vegan B, Oreo chocolate brownie from Small Print Pizza, satay sauce from Woking Amazing, pancakes from Wombat Café and Store, sweet potato and Mexican spiced beans from Urban Projuice, and eggplant caponata from Maccaroni Osteria Italiana, Nutrition Bomb from Serotonin Eatery, the Maple Bacon Burger from The Alley and chocolate treats from Pana Chocolate.

While we would have loved to see everyone there, sadly not all Cooking with Kindness contributors could make it on the day. We of course want to thank every single one for being a part of our cookbook, it really would be nothing without your delightful dishes.

We also want to send out a massive thank you to the people at Affirm Press and Andrea McNamara for their ongoing support and help turning a little idea into such a beautiful book. And a special mention must go to Nicole from Affirm, for all her hard work in making sure we all got a share of that delicious loot.

We hope everyone enjoyed the morning—Red Baron thought the launch was really something to crow about.

  1. What an inspiration and joy you each are, as well as each precious and lucky animal to have found their way to your care. I am ordering 2 of the cookbooks, one to gift a friend. I never ate lamb years before learning of your wonderful world and those lambies in sweaters(!!) I forward your postings to my friends. Praying for God’s blessing on each of you and your animal companions.

  2. My Christmas gifts sorted! Spread the word……
Such a lovely bunch of people and critters!
    Thanks all!
