Our mission of kindness. Edgar’s Mission is a sanctuary for rescued farmed animals situated just a one-hour drive from Melbourne. We aim to cultivate kindness by expanding the public’s circle of compassion to include all animals, through advocacy, humane education, community outreach and sanctuary tours.

The role:

This is where you come in. As Admin Officer, Community Liaison and Events, you will take on the important task of managing the accounts of our valued supporters, build and reinforce strong relationships with members of the public and work closely with our fundraising team in organising events.

You will take a lead role in managing tour booking and answering or directing general inquiries from the public. Outreach is another vital component of our public face – you’ll iron out logistics and coordinate volunteers to attend. This exciting and challenging position is primarily about forging and maintaining relationships, while fulfilling general administration duties.

About you

You will have a passion for animals and organising, organising, organising. You’ll be proactive with demonstrated experience in administration and coordinating, whether events or in another area. Skills in leadership and project management will be integral to this role, and must be able to assist in the implementation of all aspects of diverse events and see they run smoothly.

Farm Hand

Edgar’s Mission is a sanctuary for rescued farmed animals based in Lancefield, around an hour’s drive north of Melbourne. Our core purpose is to provide our animal residents with all the conditions necessary to living a long and happy life, while also advocating on behalf of the farmed animals we cannot rescue.

The role:

We’re searching for a committed and enthusiastic farm hand to work hands-on in providing high-quality sanctuary cleaning. Work within a supportive team to maintain and further the smooth running of the sanctuary in areas of hygiene, safety and animal wellbeing. For most of the year we hold weekly tours and host schools and other groups, so helping ensure all visitors have a positive experience at Edgar’s Mission is also integral to this role.

You will have:

  • Sound knowledge of farmed animals, an understanding of their needs and experience in their handling.
  • Physical fitness and the willingness to perform manual and hands-on work in all weather.
  • A professional, responsible and respectful approach to working as part of a team.
  • A flexible and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and use initiative to solve problems.
